Moroni 10:32 – Yea, come unto Christ and be perfected in him…IF ye shall deny yourselves of ALL ungodliness, AND love God with all your might, mind, and strength THEN his grace is sufficient for you.
Q: When does the grace apply? A: Only after you’ve met all the requirements.
Q: What is ungodliness? Are you denying yourself of all of it?
IF you do this THEN you get the grace.
2 Nephi 25:23 – …we know that it is by grace that we are saved, AFTER all we can do.
Q: What is ALL you can do?
Q: How long did you pray this morning? 5 minutes?
Q: Could you have prayed 6 …. 8 …. 10?
Q: Did you do all you can do?
Q: When does grace apply? A: AFTER all you can do!
Alma 11:37 – …he cannot save them in their sins… no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven…
Q. Have you stopped sinning so that you can inherit the kingdom of heaven?
1 Nephi 3:7 – …the Lord giveth no commandment… save he prepare a way for them… that they may accomplish the thing…
Q: According to this verse, would God ever give you a commandment that you can’t keep?
Q: Have you ever kept a commandment?
If you have, then THAT was your best! He gave you the commandment, he knew you could do it, and you did it. That was your best! Or are you telling me that even if you try your best, that there is a commandment that you will still fail to keep? If so, what does that mean?
Q: If you’re not doing it, whose fault is it? A: Nobody but your own!
Q: Which commandments do you choose to keep?
Q: How often?
Q: You are trying your best?
D&C 1:31-33 – For I the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance;
Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, pg 164 – To try is weak. To do the best I can is not strong … we must always do better than we can.
pg 354-355 – …repentance which merits forgiveness… a point of no return to sin…the desire or urge to sin has been cleared out of his life…
Q: Do you ever think to yourself, “If I sin, I can always repent!”?
Q: What are the 5 steps of repentance?
1. Truly sorry for it
2. Abandon it
3. Confess it
5. Keep the commandments
D&C 58:42-43 – …he will confess them and forsake them…
Repentance Brings Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, …true repentance does not allow for the making of the same sin again…
Q: If you commit a sin that you’ve already repented of, can you repent of it again?
Q: How many times can someone quit smoking? A: To truly quit something, you can only do it once!
You can’t say, “I try every day… I repent every day!”
The Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 148 …daily transgression and daily repentance is not that which is pleasing in the sight of God…
Q: Are you happy that you are repenting?
If you are repenting, you are sinning! You need to STOP REPENTING!
And if you think to yourself, “I can always repent in the afterlife”
Alma 34:33-35 … if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his… the devil hath all power over you…
Q: Are you sealed to your family?
Q: Have you procrastinated your repentance … are you done yet?
Then you are not sealed to your parents, you are sealed to Satan! You are going to outer darkness! Until you get serious and decide to repent, and you have to complete this before you draw your last breath, and you are not guaranteed the next five minutes!
Your whole eternity rests on the word IF from Moroni 10:32
Face it, if you are repenting, you are a covenant breaker!
Q: What about the atonement? Doesn’t that cover you at the last minute?
Gospel Principles, pg 93, How Repentance Helps Us …as a result of repentance, the atonement of Jesus Christ becomes effective in our lives and our sins are forgiven…
So as you can see this is an impossible gospel and an excellent method to use when witnessing with the LDS.
